Ignore the dates on the banner at the top of this page, at least until I get it updated for 2011. The Paradise Market will begin June 1st in 2011. We will run until September 28, with the possibility of an extension into October if weather permits. The Market is open Wednesday Evenings from 6 PM until sunset. As usual, we’ll have many free concerts provided by talented musicians. Joseph, a local grower, will be giving away a free vegetable to everyone that shows up each week this season … and he won’t be using pesticides or any other nasty stuff on anything he brings. How’s that for ambitious gardening? Some of our other vendors are known to give things away randomly, too, but you have to be there to get the loot! Hope to see you there!

Slide Ridge Honey recently contacted me to say they have their new site up and running. Yay! We would also like to congratulate them on the great review about their honey wine vinegar in Edible Wasatch Magazine.

Visit them online to learn more about their amazing 100% local, raw honey and how to order some for yourself. Slide Ridge also sells Bee Sweet beeswax lip balm and lotion. They even have enough honey to order in bulk in case you were wondering.

Paradise Market was great last year and we’re hoping to make it even better this year.

Some of our local growers have already started their seeds, including some new varieties you may not have tried yet. Yep, even with the snow still on the ground, they are already sprouting things and looking forward to fun times at the market.

Please let us know if you have suggestions or would like to participate in some way, whether volunteer, shopper, or seller. If you’d like to volunteer to teach a gardening or cooking class, or play some music, we’d love to hear from you, too.

We hope everyone has a great market season. Thanks again for your support!

Hope everyone that made it to the market had fun. Thanks so much to Lucas and Regan for providing music again this week. We’ll have some new vendors in the next few weeks. Some will only be able to make it to Paradise a couple of Wednesday nights this season, so be sure to catch them while they’re here, and let them know you’d like to see them next year, too! As far as fresh veggies the next couple of weeks, I’m pretty sure fresh corn, squash, and peppers will be stealing the show, as well as a few others. Kevin Bell is scheduled to play next week. Come out and listen!

Be sure to check out the market photos every week on Facebook!

Liz, from Butcher’s Bunches, creates an imaginative, funky array of jams, preserves, spreads and compotes. Even better, they’re all low sugar or sugar free! Liz is an avid gardener and does her best to support the local economy. What she cannot grow herself is purchased primarily from local growers and companies in the state of Utah. To learn more, or just let Liz know you want her to visit Paradise more often, please call or visit Butcher’s Bunches online. They’re going through some site changes, so things may be down when you visit. Just check back often.

It was another relaxing evening in Paradise … fresh produce, gourmet jam, raw honey, cute crafts, and sweet lemonade. Thanks to locals Trevor and Austin Knudsen, as well as Amber and Karalee McKee for the music tonight. We also appreciate the EMT volunteering free blood pressure checks and hope nobody got any alarming results!

Also, you may want to layer for the rest of the market season. Things were noticeably cooler this evening, with some visitors wishing they’d brought something with longer sleeves. Summer is fading into Autumn and things will be getting chillier and darker. Personally, I won’t miss sweating or bug bites, though I will miss the light lasting until later in the evening. I’m looking forward to the Fall harvests, some brand new vendors, and more live music. How about you?

I heard August 4th was big fun. Regan and Lucas enjoyed performing for you and will be back August 18th if you’d like to hear them again, or just happened to miss out like I did! Yes, I missed a week … the shame! OK, so we all miss occasionally when we need to catch up with other fun people, especially if we’re hungry, not in the mood to cook, and free food is involved. Luckily I’m not the only one that takes pictures at the market, though. James was kind enough to post some of his photos to our Facebook Page. Visit it by clicking HERE!

Nick Whitesides will be our musician Wednesday July 28th. Nick was born and raised in South Ogden, Utah. He got interested in music in his early high school years and finds inspiration from such bands as Dashboard Confessional, Relient K, One Republic and All Time Low. He has composed over 150 songs, and has been described as “Emotional” without quite being “Emo”. Nick’s driving all the way from Ogden to play at The Paradise Market this week, so please come out and support him!

Thanks to all participants, including everyone that came to wish Dave a Happy Birthday! His wife, Christy made a cute cake and cupcakes to celebrate. They are some of our best vendors and volunteers. Make sure to stop by and see what they have at their booth each week, because it’s always changing. They have goodies from their garden, as well as crafts and artwork.

Many of our vendors and visitors were unable to make it, and I know they’ll be kicking themselves when they read this. In my defense, I did try to get the word out that it would be a great week. I know most of you had some really important things come up, though, and that you’ll be back some other Wednesdays this season. Now to rub it in a little, hehehehehe! We had so many friendly visitors this week. Turnout was great! We love it when so many people share in the fun. Really, this market is all about seeing friends and neighbors, as well as meeting new people. The park is so pleasant with the shade trees and kids love the playground. It’s a great way to spend a Wednesday evening.

The weather was truly beautiful. It did rain a little out here in Paradise, but only after everyone was packed up. I know our growers were glad to get a sprinkle and the clouds made for a gorgeous sunset. We even had a pretty rainbow to look at while driving home.

Andy’s music was a hit … and we want him to know we sincerely appreciate his efforts. He played longer than was good for his hands, which is quite a sacrifice for a musician. Thanks to all the nice people that contributed a little to The Andy Yerka College Fund!

We’d like to thank Andy Yerka for Providing tonight’s music. Andy plays a variety of songs, mostly hits from the past few decades.

Contact Andy if you’d like him to play at your event, too!
